Israel House at the Y (iHouse) is a program for the Israeli community in Riverdale and lower Westchester, providing an opportunity to come together and celebrate their heritage, ensure their children’s fluency with their parents' homeland culture and language, and to do so in the context of the New York Jewish community.
Begun last year, and enhanced this year with a grant from UJA-Federation of New York, this successful program is for families with young children. Meeting approximately every other Sunday morning (10:30am–12:30pm) at the Y, the program begins with an hour of fun with gym equipment for young children, including a blow-up bounce, with all interaction conducted in Hebrew and Israeli music playing.
Then the families enjoy an Israeli-style Sunday brunch and programming for children and adults focusing on Israeli culture, traditions, and Jewish holidays.
