The program's mission is to provide a welcoming, home-like setting with warm, friendly, well-trained staff and volunteers who support the functioning, safety, and dignity of each participant.
About The Program
The Social Adult Day Program at the Riverdale Y is designed for older adults with cognitive and physical limitations. The program enables participants to engage in therapeutic activities in a safe, nurturing environment. Activities include music, art, exercise, reminiscence, and current events, holiday celebrations, and special events. A hot, kosher lunch is provided, along with morning and afternoon snacks.
Eligibility Requirements
Participants must meet two or more of the following:
- 60 years or older
- Memory loss or forgetfulness
- In need of supervision and assistance in order to perform activities of daily living due to physical frailty
- Social isolation
- Could benefit from a structured and professionally supervised program.
Caregiver Benefits
Caregivers receive much-needed respite, knowing their loved one is in a safe and stimulating environment.
Caregivers are always welcome to join the group activities. Information and support are available on an on-going basis.
