The Rhoda Grundman Music School first opened its doors in September 1999. The community embraced the school immediately, and since its opening, hundreds of lessons have been offered and numerous recitals have taken place.
At the heart of the music school's program is the individual or private lesson. Here, the student learns how to sing or play an instrument and to make music under the skilled and compassionate guidance of a dedicated teacher.
Enrollment at the school continues to grow and includes a healthy mix of students of kindergarten age to adults. Each student, of whatever age and ability, proceeds at a comfortable pace which moves from success to success. For more information contact the music school director, Allen Sher at ASher@RiverdaleY.org, or (718) 548-8200, ext. 256.
There are two 16-session semesters each year. The fall semester begins in early September and the winter/spring semester begins the first week of February. Lessons are also offered throughout the summer on a more flexible basis.
All students or parents should talk with the music school's director. Students of any age are welcome to register for private lessons at any time during the school year.
Once lessons are confirmed, tuition is then payable in advance for each 16-week semester. New students first pay in advance for five preliminary trial lessons and then in advance for the remainder of the semester.
Only lessons canceled by the teacher will be made up. As a courtesy, students who miss a lesson should contact the teacher and the school.
