Special Needs/Inclusion At the Riverdale YM-YWHA the policy of inclusion speaks to the diversity of our community as a whole and is based upon one of Judaism's central principles: that human beings are created in the image of God. The Y's Special Needs programming is a partnership between the Riverdale Y and the Jewish Board of Family and Children's Services. The Y offers Sunday programming throughout the school year for children with a variety of special needs including children on the high-functioning end of the autistic spectrum and those with varied communication and learning differences. Greening Riverdale As our last Earth Day Fair proved, there is growing desire within the community to become more proactive about the environment -- both locally and in the context of the global climate crisis. Adoption: The Sarah Lily Fund for Adoption As part of its mission to strengthen families and promote Jewish identity and continuity, the Riverdale Y has established the Sarah Lily Fund For Adoption. It is understood adoption is an expensive undertaking. The Fund provides two $5,000 grants annually to help Jewish families being formed by adoption. Learn more ...
Shalom Baby: Welcoming Babies and their Parents to Riverdale Shalom Baby is an outreach program designed to welcome young families and their new babies to the Y and the Riverdale Jewish community. By extending a hand of friendship to families who have recently experienced the birth or adoption of a child, the program invites your family to become an integral part of the Riverdale community.
