Senior Center Social Worker

Providing casework support to senior center members. Facilitates groups and activities. Master’s Degree in Social Work or equivalent preferred. Bachelor’s degree in social work with three years experience accepted.

Sports and Physical Education Specialist/Coach/Teacher

Must be qualified and experienced in Physical Education. Responsible for creating and submitting a curriculum for approval, overseeing counselors assigned to their specialty area while building a fun, safe and nurturing environment. Must be a proven leader with the ability to break down skills and teach fundamentals according to each student's individual abilities. The material must be presented in a way to spark interest in each child. Must be able to engage students and maintain their attention. Ability to work with 5-12 year old children. Part-Time Early Childhood Teacher Assistant

Will work with a specific group of elementary school age children & supervise them in program activities. Have the ability to be spontaneously creative. Develop a nurturing & safe environment while consistently engaging children. Help to solve problems & teach children to resolve conflicts. Have the unique capacity to take direction from the Head Counselor, but also lead when necessary. Counselors will also be expected to get in the pool with children at least once each week.

• MUST HAVE EXPERIENCE working with children in an educational, recreational or camp setting.

Reception/Customer Service

Permanent Part-Time: Days / Evenings / Sundays

The Riverdale Y is seeking someone to work our Reception Desk.

Responsibilities include:

• Welcome members and guests, maintain organization of Reception Desk.
• Supervise facility admittance.
• Provide information and assistance to our members and general attendance.
• Ensure that proper guest procedures are followed.
• Assist in sales and renewals of membership.
• Perform sales and registration for classes and programs.
• Register and enroll guests in memberships and programs.
• Provide sales assistance for Riverdale Y merchandise.

Gymnastics Coach and Sports Specialist and Mommy & Me Instructor – P/T

Wanted: Dynamic, Energetic and Reliable Gymnastics Coach and Sports Specialist to work in our Sports and Recreation Department!

The Riverdale Y is seeking a part time Gymnastics Coach and Sports Specialist to work alongside the Sports and Recreation Program Manager. We are looking for a dynamic, athletic, enthusiastic and nurturing instructor who will be a positive role model for the children in our programs.

Principal Responsibilities:

Candidates should only apply if they have experience working with children, a strong background in athletics and physical education.

• Must have 1+ year of experience in related specialty.
• Willing to work weekends and nights as needed.
• College degree preferred. Must have a high school or equivalent work/education experience.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Ability to individually lead a class; ability to motivate and educate members.

Gymnastics Coach:

• Must have a background in Gymnastics.
• Able to teach gymnastics classes.
• Able to instruct gymnastics birthday parties and classes.

Enrichment Class Instructors / Specialists

• Experience working with children in an educational, recreational or camp setting.
• Responsible, reliable and mature.

Must be qualified, experienced individuals in the field they are teaching. Each session can be up to 60 minutes. Responsible for creating and submitting a 12-session curriculum for approval, overseeing staff members assigned to their specialty and creating a fun, safe and nurturing environment. Instructor should have the unique ability to teach without students knowing they are being taught. The material must be presented in a way to spark interest in each child enabling them to develop an affinity for the subject matter. Must be able to engage students and maintain their attention. Ability to work with 1st–2nd grade children in one class and 3rd–5th grade students in another.

If you teach, plan on teaching, or possess an expertise in an exciting field children can relate to, this is an opportunity for you to develop or sharpen your skills while creating a following and growing within our program. Successful classes in the past have included Lego Robotics, The Magic of Science, Baking, and Capoeira. We are open to your creative suggestions.
