Sifriyat Pijama (PJ Library) B’America
Join us for storytelling, singing and dancing
with Israeli actress/ singer/songwriter Shira Averbuch
in this popular Hebrew and Jewish family engagement program for 1-9 year olds. IHouse partners with the Israeli American Council (IAC) and Israeli House New York Sifriyat Pijama at the Y. Free and open to the community.
Called Sifriyat Pijama (Hebrew for "Pajama Library"), the program gifts books in Hebrew each month to more than 215,000 preschoolers in about 7,000 preschools throughout Israel. IHouse reads from a different book each time.
Sifriyat Pijama is the result of a partnership between the Harold Grinspoon Foundation (HGF), the Israeli Ministry of Education, and private funders.
Israel House (IHouse) brings a taste of Israel to Riverdale! From our Sunday Gym-bo programs, to our special Jewish holiday celebrations, to our Hebrew book club — and much more! IHouse creates a place for Israelis, as well as the larger Riverdale/Westchester Jewish community, to connect around their love of Israel. In particular, IHouse supports Israeli families to have a place to gather, celebrate their heritage, and enhance their children’s fluency with their homeland culture and language.
Thanks to a grant from the UJA Federation, we meet every other Sunday morning (10:30am–12:30pm) at the Riverdale Y for fun and conversation. This family-oriented event begins with fun and games for young children, followed by an Israeli-style Sunday brunch. We include programming for children and adults focusing on Israeli culture, traditions, and Jewish holidays.
