Lehman College at The Riverdale Y!

Lehman College's Office of Continuing Education is pleased to continue the exciting collaboration with the Riverdale Y! this fall. Currently scheduled (with more to come!):

AMERICAN ABSTRACT ART
AND THE JEWISH CONNECTION

RIY 16 / $140*
Thursdays, Oct. 9–Nov. 20
(7 sessions)
7:00pm–8:30pm

Abstract American art primarily evolved after World War II and has been, until now, spearheaded by many Jewish artists. They sought morally and ethically, to develop a new visual language in opposition to the romantic visual imagery of artworks created prior to 1945. To understand abstract art and the Jewish connection, the viewer is invited to learn a new art vocabulary and a new way of looking at decoding the artists’ use of color, form, content, new realities and, even spirituality.

Instructor: Stephen Epstein, MA in art history/fine arts, is an accomplished artist, art instructor and art historian.

*NOTE: Tuition does not include a $20 non-refundable registration fee.

WRITING POETRY:
FROM INSPIRATION TO CREATION

RIY 37 / $145*
Wednesdays, Oct. 1–Nov. 19
(8 sessions)
7:00pm–8:30pm

Engaging in reading, listening to and discussing poems enhance students’ innate talents, creativity and knowledge of the world of poetry.
