Dear friends,
I recently had a heart-to-heart with Selma and Taziah, who represent the Friendly Fridges that aid our local community in need. Our conversations centered around the importance of supporting those less fortunate, particularly in the area of basic necessities.
One important item that we can provide is used book bags, which can be used to store essential items. However, it’s crucial to note that new book bags are not the most useful contribution, as they are often targeted for theft. Instead, we can make a real difference by donating new socks, underwear, and menstrual products, which are always in high demand.
While brainstorming ways we could further assist those in need, we discussed the significance of cultivating empathy and understanding. With this in mind, I urge you to consider volunteering with the Friendly Fridges. By working at distribution times, cleaning the fridges, or donating home-cooked meals, you can gain a firsthand understanding of the struggles faced by our community members in need.
There are many ways we can help. It can start with a used book bag. It can continue with your heart and hands helping those in need directly.
Regards,
