Anti-Racism Book Discussion
A small group including members from several different congregations and secular organizations has been meeting most months to discuss books that educate and motivate us in anti-racist work.
For January, we’ll be reading An Indigenous Peoples’ History of the United States. There’s also a young adult version, suitable if you’re not well-versed in history — it’s a bit simpler and explains more, but covers the same basic material.
The books cover more than 400 years of history in the land that is now the United States of America. The history is written from the perspective of the indigenous people who were here and still are here. Be prepared to have your perspective shaken at least a bit!
Co-sponsored by North Bronx Racial Justice, which is sponsoring an all-day event on Martin Luther King Day, January 20, at St. Stephens United Methodist Church in Marble Hill.
