The HIR Social Action Committee’s inaugural event– an opportunity to introduce the shul community to the immigration and refugee crisis occurring around us, here in Riverdale, and across the country.

Rav Steven Exler, Senior Rabbi, HIR – The Bayit
Merrill Zack, V.P., Community Engagement, HIAS, a Jewish organization supporting immigrants: on the history of immigration in the U.S. and the role of the Holocaust in current policy.
Marti Michael, volunteer: on working with Arizona Jews for Justice at the border, and her upcoming work with Team Brownsville, cooking and delivering meals to asylum seekers
Myrna & Heidy Lazcano: recent immigrant mother and daughter, now activists helping other families reunite, talking about their own immigration story
