Trans Day of Remembrance

This program is intended for trans, non-binary, and gender nonconforming Jews. For cisgender allies, we kindly ask you to respect this sacred, trans, non-binary, and gender nonconforming focused space and explore other opportunities to support as an ally by checking out cbst.org/transjews.

Convening Director Ariel Zitny & Guest Cantorial Student Ze’evi Berman lead this pre-Shabbat Candle Lighting on Trans Day of Remembrance on Friday, November 20. We will gather at 5pm to recite Yizkor and honor the memory of those whose lives were lost to acts of anti-transgender violence. Click here to read A Transgender Day of Remembrance Yizkor written by Ariel.

Please RSVP here to receive the Zoom information to attend. We will send the Zoom information out by 4pm the day-of. Contact Jkatz@cbst.org with any questions you might have.

CBST has partnered with Keshet to create a Trans Day of Remembrance Yortzeit Candle Sticker. If your observance permits, we ask you to share this picture of the Trans Day of Remembrance Yortzeit Candle on social media to honor those we have lost and to promote the visibility of this sacred day. Hashtags: #TDOR  #TDOR2020 #FromMourningToLiberation #TDORyortzeitcandle #TransDayOfRemembrance If you have a printer and a yortzeit candle, you can print out the sticker here and place it on your candle, otherwise feel free to simply share the photo.
