Aquatics Coordinator
Job Overview:
Under the direct supervision of the Aquatics Director, the Aquatics Coordinator is responsible to assist with planning, organizing, and supervision of Aquatic activities, safety, and maintenance of the Aquatics facility. The Coordinator assists with the training and scheduling of lifeguards and other pool personnel, directs Aquatics staff in the operation of pool equipment, and performs regular maintenance duties, when necessary, in accordance with Department of Health and New York State law.
Key Responsibilities, in coordination and consultation with the Director, include:
- Assist in the delivery of Aquatics programs and instruction
- Ensure program quality and coverage with an eye to customer service
- Supervise pool area and ensure lifeguard staff is monitoring patrons and portraying professional behavior at all times.
- Work 20-30 hours each week as a model lifeguard, water instructor or swim team coach as scheduled by the Aquatics Director
- Ensure that the facility and operations are in compliance with the New York State Dept. of Health Sanitary Code, for Swimming Pools, specifically as it pertains to operating, supervision and maintenance
- Maintain pool chemicals, pool logs, pool updates, and incident reports (delete)
- Develop relationships with members and program participants by obtaining regular feedback
- Work closely with Aquatics Director for camp and hold camp director certification (revised)
- Able to work a flexible schedule, including early morning, evening and weekend hours to cover shifts in the absence of a lifeguard or instructor and prepared to spend necessary time on site to ensure the pool is operating at its highest level
- Complete other related duties as assigned by the Aquatics Director
Qualities and Qualifications:
- Ability to relate to and communicate well with clients and staff
- Committed to excellent customer service
- Comfortable in a hands-on, collaborative work setting
- Minimum three years in Aquatics industry
- Certifications in WSI, CPR, AED and First Aid
- Certified Pool Operator and Lifeguard Instructor or able to obtain within six months of employment
- Ability to lead and manage staff
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred
Salary: $50,000-$55,000 (commensurate with experience), including the following benefits:

This is a full-time, in-person role, five days a week, with occasional evenings and holidays throughout the year.
