Dear Riverdale Y Community,
As many of you know, in light of the recent increase in COVID-19 cases in New York and other parts of the country, the CDC has recently updated its guidelines to include mask wearing in public indoor settings for everyone regardless of vaccination status (which has been reinforced on the city, state and national levels). We strongly encourage everyone to wear a mask while indoors to prevent the spread of the virus, and beginning on Monday, August 2, we will require everyone entering the Y to wear a mask in lobbies, restrooms, locker rooms, and other common areas. Members who would like to remove their masks after entering the fitness center and group exercise classes, and on the basketball court must show proof of vaccination to receive a wristband as has been our recent practice.
We know this is a frustrating development, but we are heartened by our community’s continued commitment to ensure the safety of everyone, including those seniors and children who are at higher risk. Thank you as always for your support.
