Riverdale Jewish Community Partnership

Riverdale Jewish Community Partnership

The Riverdale Jewish Community Partnership (RJCP) is a collaboration of 18 Riverdale Jewish communal institutions from across the denominational spectrum, including synagogues, minyanim, day schools, seminaries, and community organizations. The Riverdale Y is the organizing institution, given its mission as a non-denominational, community-building convener.

Part of the Y’s core mission is to bring together diverse parts of the community through our programs, services, and events. As a non-denominational Jewish organization that serves Jews of all backgrounds and levels of connection to being Jewish, we are a low barrier of entry to Jewish life, and uniquely positioned to be the convener of the Jewish community.

RJCP is poised to grow and strengthen this collaboration, reinforcing the model that the Jewish community can work together to reach out to more Jews, regardless of their level of connection to the Jewish community, and significantly increase the impact on individual Jews and the Jewish collective.

Events planned for spring 2018:

  • Yom HaZikaron Commemoration – April 17, 2018 – Riverdale has convened on erev Yom HaZikaron for several years. This year, we go to SAR High School, which seats 600 people, so even more people can attend this powerful community-building event.
  • Yom HaAtzmaut Celebration – April 18 ,2018 – In honor of Israel’s 70th birthday, we will gather at the Riverdale Temple with different prayer service options followed by a community-wide celebration of Israel with food and activities for all ages.
  • Lag BaOmer – May 2 – Bringing the Israeli community together for Erev Lag BaOmer with a bonfire and family programming at the Y.
  • Memorial Day – May 28 – RJCP will work with the Riverdale-Kingsbridge Interfaith Clergy Coalition to plan a meaningful interfaith program for Memorial Day.
  • Celebrate Israel Parade – June 3 – RJCP plans to have a banner under which the congregations and other community members could march with the UJA delegation.
