Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteer Opportunities at the Riverdale Y Senior Center

There are many opportunities to volunteer for persons of all ages at the Riverdale Y Senior Center. While the majority of our volunteers are older adults, we also have opportunities for younger retirees and students who need community service hours.

Many of our volunteers work  in our dining room during our lunch program. Tables get set and meals get served by volunteers. There are also clerical jobs and office jobs. Many join committees and plan events. Others work independently. Volunteers with professional expertise have opportunities to give lectures or teach classes.

Volunteer for Senior Food Delivery

The Y is taking on a new project and we are looking for volunteer help.

Each month, volunteers from the Kingsbridge-Riverdale-Marble Hill Food and Hunger Project pack Kosher pantry bags at the Y to deliver to homebound Seniors in our Community. Please be advised, as some seniors may not have elevators, you should be able to walk up stairs while carrying a light package.

We are looking for volunteers who want to help out on a monthly basis by delivering these pantry bags to the Seniors in their homes.

If you are interested, please contact Ronnie Zackman, the Senior Center Volunteer Coordinator for more information about this important project. Call Ronnie at (718) 548-8200 ext. 217.
