Svitlana Syrtsova

Svitlana is an award-winning classical pianist and chamber musician who began teaching piano at The Riverdale Y in 2011. She loves to inspire very young beginners, and she developed a teaching method that builds proper basic piano technique while making piano playing easy and enjoyable.

She received a doctorate in piano performance from the Ukrainian Academy of Music in Kiev, and a Master’s degree in music and music education from Columbia University’s Teachers College, where she also studied organ and harpsichord.
