We are looking for older teens (16-19) who are interested in participating in an interfaith dialogue to develop a project for the MLK Day of Service that supports deeper understanding and connection between people of diverse backgrounds. Celebrate New Year’s with a wonderful meal prepared by our talented Kitchen Manager, Nekiya Edwards, and her staff! After lunch, JoAnn will serenade us in English, Spanish, and Italian with her vast repertoire of songs: 40s-80s pop hits, International, Jazz Standards, Disco, Latin, Oldies, Motown, Soul & Funk. The Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr Day of Service is our biggest service event of the year. An annual tradition to kick off the new year mindfully, MLK Day of Service at the Riverdale Y is an opportunity to join together with hundreds of volunteers to donate our time to help others. Krav Maga is an Israeli martial art. Developed for the Israel Defense Forces, it is derived from a combination of techniques used in aikido, judo, karate, boxing, and wrestling. It is known for its focus on real-world situations and its extreme efficiency. This session will be taught for people of all fitness levels and no experience is required. Join us for a Lag Baomer Dinner & Bonfire on Monday May 8 from 6:30 - 8:30pm. There will be music, games, dinner, a bonfire, and of course s'mores! On May 16, between 1.30pm and 3pm, the Riverdale Y, in partnership with the Met Council, is hosting the Mobile Pantry at the Riverdale Y. Kosher, halal, and vegetarian options will be available. Food is available regardless of income, age and immigration status. You'll need to fill out the TEFAP form that will be available on site the day of the pantry.
