Learn the story of a young girl, Rutka Laskier, 'the Polish Ann Frank' living under Nazi occupation during the early months of 1943 in Bedzin, Poland, her friend who kept the diary for sixty years,, the people that discovered it, and the lives that were forever changed. The presenter of the program is Adam Szydlowski, the first publisher of Rutka's Notebook, and the 2017 winner of the prestigious "Preserving Memory" Award. Join Manhattan College as they invite Sabeeha Rehman to discuss her 2016 memoir, "Threading My Prayer Rug: One Woman's Journey from Pakistani Muslim to American Muslim". The book was Short-Listed for the 2018 William Saroyan International Prize for Writing, received Honorable Mention in Spirituality by the San Francisco Book Festival Awards in 2017, and was listed as Top 10 Religion and Spirituality Books 2016, among many other accolades. On December 14 at 7:00 pm, Manhattan College will be opening its doors to the Jewish community for a Jewish Heritage Night. There will be kosher concession options, giveaways, and pregame activities. We have a number of free vouchers at the front desk for those interested. A voucher is a ticket for 4 to attend the basketball game.
