Volunteer Opportunities

Meals for Seniors, Food Deliverer

We need a driver who is committed, responsible and fast to deliver meals to our homebound seniors. This position is available on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. You can do as little as one day a week, and as little as 45 minutes a shift.

Commitment: At least 45 minutes a shift, at least one day a week. Application, background check and car are required. Training will be provided to accepted volunteers.

Media Specialist

Record the special events and volunteer experiences using personal photo and video equipment. Take interviews, pass along the raw footage to the Riverdale Y Volunteer department, or edit it to make interesting stories. This role is performed at the Riverdale Y, on location at special events, and virtually.

Commitment: 1 hour per week, 4 shifts available. Personal video/photo/editing equipment is required. Application is required. Training will be provided.

Tech Support for Seniors

Assist seniors in learning the current technology. The pandemic truly showed us that we cannot survive without modern technology. Seniors are already provided with modern tech. We need to show them how to turn it on, use email and zoom, and other modern apps to make life easier.

Commitment: 1 hour a week, until the end of the project. Knowledge of modern software (zoom, email, etc) is required. Access to phone and internet is required. This role is performed from the comfort of your home
