The Riverdale Y is a robust, community engaging nonprofit that values its volunteers. Hundreds of community members share their talents with us, contributing thousands of hours of time.

Volunteer Opportunities

Garden Volunteer

Join us for a communal gardening experience at the Riverdale Y . It’s hard dirty work that results in new friends, beautiful flowers, and amazing fresh produce grown by you and others for our community.

Commitment: At least one hour a week.  Application is required.

Tech Support for Homebound Adults

Please help us connect with seniors who have the technology at home, but do not know how to use it. We need volunteers to do the following: ascertain that our homebound adults still have the technology given to them through Riverdale Y; find out if the seniors know how to use it; teach seniors the basics of technology.

Commitment: Work can be done from home via phone and internet. Flexible schedule. Patience is a must. Training for volunteers will be provided. Application is required.

Lag B’Omer

Join us in making a successful Festival of Lag B’Omer. We have several roles that will make the festival fun and exciting for all participants. We need leaders for the following roles:

Registration: 2 persons necessary, from 4pm to 8pm

  • Set up
  • Breakdown
  • Clean Up
  • Temperature Checks
  • Registration support

Bonfire: 2 persons necessary, from 6pm to 8pm

  • Greeter/distributor
  • Fire Feeder
  • Fire Making
  • Hose off fire

Media:  2 persons necessary, from 4pm to 8pm

  • Photo
  • Video
  • Edit

Mural  2 persons necessary, from 3.30pm to 7pm

  • Set up supplies
  • Direct attendants to draw along the provided contours
  • Clean up after the project

Garden  2 persons necessary, from 4pm to 6pm

  • Prep the soil along the white fence
  • Plant provided flowers
