Last night, the Riverdale Y hosted the annual Community-Wide Yom HaZikaron Ceremony sponsored by the Riverdale Jewish Community Partnership (RJCP).
We gathered on Israel’s Memorial Day to honor the memories of fallen Israeli soldiers and victims of terror. We are grateful that this program is the result of the collaboration of our Riverdale Jewish communal institutions. Thank you to our community rabbis for participating and leading us in prayer, thank you to the students from Kinneret Day School and SAR Academy for leading us in song, and a special thank you to Tsuri Gadasi for serving as our Master of Ceremonies.
We concluded the service with the hope and vision of the prophet Isaiah:
“They shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks; nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.”
May it be so soon.
